Baby Nursery

Build and design your own baby nursery.

There's now an absolutely vast selection for the baby nursery of not just the usual wallpaper and bed linens aimed at the little people, but serious furniture-club chairs and ottomans, sofas-scaled down to kid sizes; things that they used to have to grow into are now being made just for them. Kids are finally being catered to on their own terms, even in the furniture world!

Choosing a room for the baby nursery:

The first thing you need to consider is what room in your home you’d like to transform into the baby nursery. Think about the location of the room in relation to where the majority of activity happens in your household. You may not want the baby nursery too close to the kitchen (in case you want to do a load of dishes after bedtime), near the family room (a place where you and your partner spend time watching television and unwinding at night), or near a drafty entryway or hallway. Aside from this, you will also want the baby nursery close enough to where you are able to hear the baby easily and get to her quickly if you need to. Other things to consider may include the natural lighting that shines through the windows at different times of the day and outside noises from a busy street or neighbor.

It's time to decorate your baby nursery.

BABY NURSERY DECORATING TIPS:

Pick a theme before you begin on your baby nursery. Your theme will help guide you as you begin to furnish your nursery. You don't necessarily have to choose a character theme; your theme may be as simple as choosing two coordinating colors such as pale yellow and green.

Popular Baby Nursery Themes:

Noah's Ark
Peter Rabbit
Winnie the Pooh

Use paint effects in your baby nursery such as sponge painting, rag rolling, and stenciling to add pattern and interest to your walls. A great look is to paint the walls sky blue and to sponge-paint clouds near the ceiling. Stencil your designs on dressers, shelves, and other accessories in your baby nursery to match your border.
It is recommended that you have some primary colors in the room. The primary colors are red, yellow and blue. These colors have been shown to help in the cognitive development of babies. You can easily introduce those colors in toys. The key here is to use these colors in strategic areas not all over the room or nursery.

Decorating the baby nursery, whether it's for your first baby, second, third or fourth is always an exhilarating and fun endeavor!
